Israeli Airstrike on Gaza School Shelter Kills 25 Civilians

At least 25 people, including women and children, were killed when an Israeli airstrike hit a school being used as a shelter in northern Gaza early Monday morning. More than 55 others were injured, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

The school had been turned into a shelter for displaced families who had fled from other parts of the region due to ongoing air attacks. It was struck while people were sleeping. The blasts caused a large fire, destroying many personal belongings and trapping people inside. Emergency workers tried to put out the flames and pull survivors from the rubble.

Health workers in Gaza said the building was hit three times in a row. Many of the victims were burned beyond recognition. Videos posted online showed children crying, dust-covered survivors being carried away, and destroyed rooms filled with smoke and debris.

The Israeli military did not make any official comment about the incident. Israel has often stated that it targets Hamas fighters, but many civilian sites have been hit during the conflict. The attack on the school comes amid growing concern about the high number of civilian deaths.

The Gaza Health Ministry says more than 35,000 people have died since the war began in late 2023. Most of the dead are believed to be civilians, with a large number of them being women and children.

The school was one of many public buildings used as emergency shelters. As homes are destroyed and fighting continues, families have sought safety in schools, hospitals, and mosques. These places, however, are not always safe. Many have been damaged or destroyed in recent weeks.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is getting worse. There is little access to food, water, and medicine. Hospitals are overcrowded and running low on supplies. Some have no electricity or clean water. Aid groups say they are unable to reach many people who need help.

International leaders and organizations are calling for an investigation into the airstrike. They say all sides must follow international law and protect civilians. There are also growing calls for a ceasefire to prevent more deaths.

The ongoing war began after a deadly attack on Israel by Hamas fighters in October 2023. In response, Israel launched a wide military campaign against Hamas in Gaza. The fighting has caused massive destruction and suffering on both sides.

Peace talks have made little progress. Efforts led by Egypt and Qatar have not led to a long-term ceasefire. People in Gaza continue to live in fear, unsure if they will survive the next day.

The airstrike on the school is another painful reminder of the high cost of this conflict. As families bury their loved ones, many are left asking when the war will end and if safety will ever return to their lives.
