Flydubai Resumes Damascus Flights After 12 Years in 2025

Flydubai will restart direct flights to Damascus, Syria, from June 1, 2025. This ends a 12-year pause in flights between Dubai and Damascus. The flights will run daily from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport to Damascus International Airport.

Damascus was one of flydubai’s first destinations when flights began in June 2009, nearly 16 years ago. The airline’s decision to resume flights follows the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority’s earlier announcement to reopen air travel between the two countries.

Flydubai has grown to serve over 130 destinations in 56 countries. Many of these were previously underserved markets without direct flights to Dubai. The airline operates a modern fleet of 88 Boeing 737 aircraft.

The airline worked closely with authorities to meet all operational standards before restarting flights. The relaunch is timed for the Eid Al Adha holiday and summer travel season, giving passengers more options to visit Damascus and surrounding areas.

The UAE’s move to resume flights to Syria reflects efforts to improve regional connectivity and economic ties. Damascus, as Syria’s capital with rich cultural history, is a key destination for business and tourism.

Flydubai’s return to Damascus is part of its broader plan to expand access to underserved markets. This move supports travel and trade growth between the UAE and Syria.
