SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Launch Set for May 28 in Florida

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to launch from Florida’s Space Coast on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The rocket will carry Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit to expand SpaceX’s global internet network. The launch time is set for 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time, with the exact launch pad location to be confirmed soon. Launches usually occur from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center near Merritt Island or Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
The Starlink mission will deploy a batch of satellites designed to provide high-speed internet worldwide. Starlink aims to improve internet access in remote and underserved areas by building a large satellite network in low-Earth orbit. This mission is one of many planned for 2025 from Cape Canaveral, which remains a busy hub for space activity.
If weather conditions are favorable, people beyond the immediate Space Coast may see the launch. Locations like Jacksonville Beach, Daytona Beach, Vero Beach, and West Palm Beach could catch a glimpse of the rocket’s ascent. The early morning launch offers a unique opportunity to photograph the bright rocket lighting up the sky and leaving a glowing trail.
For residents in Palm Beach County, several spots offer good views of the launch. These include Juno Beach Pier, South Cove Natural Area Boardwalk in West Palm Beach, Midtown Beach in Palm Beach, the pedestrian bridge over Bingham Island near Mar-a-Lago, Lake Worth Pier, Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge in Boynton Beach, and South Beach Park in Boca Raton. Observers should find open areas away from tall buildings, trees, and bright lights for the best view.
Live coverage of the launch will begin 90 minutes before liftoff and can be watched at floridatoday.com/space or via the FLORIDA TODAY app. The Space Team will provide real-time updates and a countdown to the launch.
Cape Canaveral continues to be a major site for rocket launches in 2025, with multiple missions planned by SpaceX and other providers. These launches offer many chances for space fans and photographers to witness spectacular sights as rockets lift off and head into orbit.
