Israel Launches Large-Scale Ground Invasion of Gaza Strip

The Israeli military has started a large-scale ground invasion of the Gaza Strip. This operation was approved by Israel’s political leaders and involves five military divisions. The invasion targets key areas including Khan Younis and northern Gaza. Division 162 is operating in northern Gaza, Divisions 36 and 98 in Khan Younis, Division 252 in central Gaza, and Division 143 in Rafah and the buffer zone near Egypt.

Israeli Army Radio earlier reported that Israel plans to occupy large parts of the Gaza Strip as part of this military operation. The goal is to weaken Hamas by controlling important regions within Gaza. This move follows weeks of increased fighting between Israel and Hamas, with rocket attacks from Gaza and Israeli airstrikes causing heavy casualties on both sides.

The invasion focuses on areas that are strategically important for Israel’s security. Khan Younis and northern Gaza have seen frequent clashes in recent weeks, and Israel aims to reduce rocket fire targeting its cities by controlling these zones. The ground invasion may result in heavy fighting and is likely to affect civilian populations in Gaza.

International reactions vary, with some countries supporting Israel’s right to defend itself, while others express concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza. The United Nations and other international organizations have urged caution to avoid harm to civilians.
