European Leaders Agree on Close Coordination Before Ukraine Peace Talks

European leaders have agreed to stay closely coordinated ahead of new peace talks aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. The Italian government announced this on Tuesday after key leaders held phone discussions.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The leaders agreed to maintain strong cooperation as they prepare for negotiations focused on achieving a ceasefire and a lasting peace agreement in Ukraine. This united approach reflects the urgency of ending the conflict, which has caused widespread human suffering and regional instability.

Meloni and Zelensky also discussed possible locations for the peace talks with Russia. Although no final venue has been confirmed, choosing a neutral and suitable place is important for successful negotiations.

The conflict began in February 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine. Since then, thousands have lost their lives, and millions have been displaced. European countries have provided significant support to Ukraine through aid and diplomacy.

The upcoming round of peace talks is expected to start soon, with European leaders continuing consultations with Ukraine and partners. This coordinated effort signals a strong commitment to finding a peaceful resolution.
