Bahrain Announces 6-Day Eid Al Adha Holiday for 2025

Bahrain has confirmed a six-day public holiday to celebrate Eid Al Adha in 2025. The announcement was made through a circular issued by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The break will begin on the Day of Arafah, which falls on Thursday, June 5. It will continue through Eid Al Adha, which will be observed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 6 to 8. Since the official holiday includes a weekend, the government has added two extra days off. These will be Monday and Tuesday, June 9 and 10.
Eid Al Adha is one of the most important Islamic holidays. It marks the story of Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. This festival is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice.
During the holiday, Muslims take part in early morning prayers. They also carry out the ritual of animal sacrifice. The meat from the sacrifice is shared with family, friends, and people in need. Many also give to charity, visit relatives, and prepare special meals.
In Bahrain, the holiday is widely celebrated. Families gather for meals, dress in new clothes, and take part in community events. Many people use the long break to travel within the country or visit nearby countries.
The government ensures that public services like hospitals, police, and emergency teams continue working. Most government offices and schools will be closed during the holiday. Many private companies also follow the public sector and give time off to staff.
Bahrain is one of the first countries in the Gulf to declare its Eid Al Adha schedule this year. Other countries like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar are expected to make similar announcements soon.
The dates for Eid Al Adha can change slightly depending on moon sightings. However, the predicted calendar suggests that Bahrain’s schedule is in line with most other Muslim countries.
The Eid holiday is also a busy time for businesses, especially in the retail and food sectors. Many stores and malls offer special deals. Restaurants usually create special menus for families celebrating the occasion.
Eid Al Adha also comes during the time of the Hajj pilgrimage. Many Muslims from Bahrain and other countries travel to Mecca to take part in the pilgrimage if they are selected. For those who stay at home, the Day of Arafah is a time of fasting and prayer.
Travelers are advised to plan early, as airports, roads, and shopping areas can get crowded during the holiday week. The long break is expected to boost domestic tourism and allow families to spend more time together.
