21 Dead in Gaza Trying to Get Aid, Red Cross Hospital Says

At least 21 people were killed in Gaza on Sunday morning as they went to receive humanitarian aid, according to a nearby hospital run by the Red Cross. The incident took place in Rafah, near the Gaza-Egypt border. The hospital said it also treated about 175 injured people from the same event.
The victims had gathered to collect aid from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. This American organization is supported by both the US and Israeli governments to provide help to people in Gaza. However, aid distribution has been chaotic, and witnesses say Israeli troops fired at crowds near the delivery sites.
Before Sunday, local health officials reported six deaths and over 50 injuries in similar incidents. The foundation said its private security guards did not shoot at people. The Israeli military said it fired warning shots during the crowds. Hamas-linked media reported over 20 deaths near Rafah caused by an Israeli strike on an aid point. Israel has not commented on these claims.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said it delivered 16 truckloads of aid early Sunday without problems. Despite this, the violence has created fear and confusion for civilians trying to get help.
The Red Cross hospital near Rafah is treating hundreds of injured people. Medical workers are struggling to care for the wounded while also managing the growing number of deaths. The International Committee of the Red Cross called on all parties to protect civilians and allow safe humanitarian access.
The violence around aid delivery has made the crisis in Gaza worse. Without safe conditions, people may avoid going to aid sites, risking their health and lives. The ongoing conflict and blockade have made life difficult for many residents.
Aid groups plan to continue their work despite dangers. Officials face pressure to investigate the attacks and prevent further violence. Civilians in Gaza remain uncertain as the situation continues to change.
